Acquired around 1996, our Exeter branch on Heavitree Road transformed a pair of derelict buildings – the front Knights Dairy & General Stores and the rear Exeter Sewing Machine Company workshop – into a welcoming showroom and workspace. The extensive renovations, captured in these photos of founder Ian Hale getting stuck in with the tools, showed our hands-on commitment from day one. Leading from the front, Ian rolled up his sleeves to build a space that blends tradition with modern precision, ensuring every memorial and headstone in Exeter reflects the care Somerset families deserve.
